Doggie Moments

I love dogs! It has been bitter sweet having Skecher in our home. He makes us laugh and makes me cry because he reminds me of the things Timber used to do. So all dogs have quirks about them. They all have their own personalities. Timber loved to play over food. If you offered him a frisbee or a bone...he would always go for the toy. Even in his elder years. Skecher...he goes for the food. Once that pantry door opens up...he is there, sitting with pleading eyes. He has caught on that Sydney dribbles crumbs, and he follows her with his nose to the ground sweeping them up. Timber loved car rides, if we would say "You want to go for a ride?" he would run to the car and hop in, and hang his head out the window. Skecher is terrified of the car. He goes to a dead weight and won't budge. I have to pick him up to put him in the car. Hopefully, he quickly understands that car rides are not all that bad, especially when they end up at the parks or mountains. Both of the dogs have loved kids. Timber and Skech love to play and be by the kids, no snipping, no timidness, just want to have fun. Great dogs! Timber used to cock his head when we said favorite words, Skech does the same, not as good as Timber, but in his own cute way. He loves to snuggle in bed with me, like Timber. He stays right by us when we are outside. He wants to go where we go...awesome dog! I think that is the same breed that he and Timber shared in common. Skecher has issues with his reflection! He barks at it, is nervous eating out of his bowls, because another dog is staring straight up at him! The other night Kurt and I were watching a Western, and on the TV a big bull was in the movie, Sketcher started barking at it, because he wanted to herd it, just like Timber! We struck gold again in finding a dog that fits well with the family. He has big paws to fill, so far doing pretty good! For FHE, We talked about how supporting family members makes a family strong. I gave the kids a challenge to support each of their family members. They wrote on a sheet what they were going to do. Bryson put on his that he was going to remember Timber. How neat that the kids still think of Tim and don't want to forget him. Right now I am working on doing a framed project of some specials pics of Timber, his leash, collar, frisbee, bedding, and poem that my sister wrote. We want to hang it in the house to help us remember he is still with us. Skecher is helping us heal and we are loving him in our home!
